Once you have the plants, the pollinators appear. We were overwhelmed with bees by late spring. There were small solitary bees, honey bees from an urban hive a few blocks away, regular bumble bees, and the massive bumble bees we dubbed “bumble busses” because they were so much larger than the standard bees. Then there were the butterflies. Sometimes there would be dozens all feeding and fluttering around the garden.

We also had a bit of an aphid problem, but the ladybugs moved in within a few weeks to help manage the aphids.
